About the Neighborhood

Sunset Village is a cozy neighborhood on the near west side of Madison, nestled on tree-lined streets with rolling hills and panoramic views. Most of the houses were built in the 1930s and 1940s. As you’ll see if you check out the map of the neighborhood, it has irregular boundaries running between University Ave on the north to Mineral Point Rd on the south, including streets on both sides of Midvale Blvd.

We are a popular neighborhood in Madison because of our proximity to downtown, the UW Madison campus, shopping and dining areas. See the ABOUT page for more details on schools and voting districts.

About the Association

SVCA sponsors several neighborhood-wide events each year, including the Ice Cream Social at Lucia Crest Park (usually the first Saturday in August), a Block Party on North Hillside Terrace in September, and a Halloween Parade at Sunset Court Park. We also produce four newsletters each year, distributed by neighbors to your doorstep.

Every resident of Sunset Village is automatically a member of SVCA. We welcome donations of any amount, with a suggested membership donation of $15/household per year. These dues and the revenue generated by advertising in our newsletter support our social events and various neighborhood or community improvement projects. Recent examples include upgrading the Sunset Court playground, planting fruit trees at Lucia Crest Park, and support the installation of a pollinator garden at the fire station on Midvale Blvd.

The City of Madison utilizes the names of the Associations and its contacts to share items of interest or inform of upcoming issues that may affect the immediate neighborhood or neighborhoods across the City.
